Knocking Noise When Pressing Accelerator

It did not sound like tapping or ticking at alljust loud knock. The noise is worse while under load and actually in motion. It is present when coasting, but it is almost inaudible when not pressing on the gas. Hopefully you can get it figured out so I can find a place to start getting mine fixed. Update: I have a 2000 mustang and recently the engine has started knocking while the car is accelerating. When I start accelerating again, it starts again.
